Axiom has a unique story, in that it is really two stories brought together into one. Both stories, cordinated so clearly by God and so cool to share!
The leadership at Midland Christian Church had been praying for approximately two years, asking the Lord for wisdom and guidance in resolving a problem that quite a few congregations are struggling with these days. That problem in a nutshell is declining attendance and an aging congregation. As many Christians do, we prayed, and time went by and we wondered if the Lord would answer. Then as the fall of 2020 approached an interesting thing happened.
There was a group of young families that started meeting as a Bible Study the end of the summer in 2020. The reason we gathered together was we knew there was a need in our small group of friends lives. What was the need? Authentic worship and biblical truth!
We met in backyards and living rooms, we would start by reading some Scripture together and talking through what it meant, then with an acoustic guitar and a cajon we worshiped.
We didn't really plan on it being anything major, but week after week we had more people showing up and expressing interest. What started as a group of less than 10, became 20, then 30, and then 40!
Summer was ending and our group was far too big for a living room. It was at that time that we really started to feel God was doing something bigger here. That is when the vision for Axiom Church came, "Change the world one story at a time."
With a vision to accomplish and do great things for the kingdom our leadership team began discussing what to do for our gathering. Thats how the small group of families got connected to Midland Christian Church, an established nondenominational church that had been around for more than 50 years. It started as MCC allowing us to use their amazing space, but also created a chance for us to get to know each other.
During this time of getting to know each other MCC saw something that was an answer to prayers over the last couple of years. It was clear as could be, God was saying “I am giving you an answer and a great opportunity”. This group of young families had a vision that God had put on their hearts of how to reach those who need the Lord. They were passionate about sharing their faith and about learning other people stories. They had a way of worshipping the Lord that was relevant and moving. So, knowing all of that and hearing the Lord say, “walk through this door that I have opened and watch what I the Lord can do”, we began the process that now has become Axiom Church.
We are now Axiom Church, one church that values real relationships which lead to true growth and health, a church that desires deep heartfelt worship and who is driven to truth found only in scripture. We know God is in this and we cannot wait to see what He has planned for us moving forward, because the ride so far has been amazing!
